During the last century, the house, with
the Vinhas stream joining the sea at its
feet, belonged to the Dukes of Palmela.
Later on, it was the residence of the
writer Maria Amália Vaz de Carvalho and
the poet Gonçalves Crespo, becoming the
cenaculum of period writers, thus adding
an aura of dignity and culture to the
beauty and harmony of its sober lines.
